Rotary Drilling Tools

Bauer-Pileco provides a full range of drilling tools and accessories which are required for constructing boreholes in various soil conditions. It is especially suited for the BG drill rig system. Long lifetime, high efficiency and easy maintenance are key criteria for all tools and components.

Augers

SB augers are designed for drilling in cohesive and non-cohesive soil above the groundwater level, while the SBF auger series or the conical tapered auger are suitable for breaking and ripping of hard soil up to medium hard rock.

The augers are available in various configurations such as:

  • Flat teeth or round shank chisels (“bullet teeth”)
  • Wear strips along the auger flights
  • Single or double start type
  • With or without pilot bit
  • With or without collar ring
  • Range of diameter 520 mm – 2500 mm

Drilling Buckets

KB buckets are used for drilling in cohesive and non-cohesive soil below the groundwater level, while the KBF bucket series is suitable for breaking and ripping of hard soil up to medium hard rock. A hinged revolving bottom gate can be automatically opened for emptying the bucket. A vent tube prevents vacuum when lifting the tool in the borehole.

Buckets are available in various configurations such as:

  • Flat teeth or round shank chisels (“bullet teeth”)
  • Single or double start type
  • Different pilot (starter) bits
  • With or without collar ring
  • Reamer edge (“cleaning bucket”)
  • Range of diameter 520 mm – 2500 mm

Belling Buckets

The bearing capacity of bored piles can be increased significantly by enlarging the base area of a pile. Belling buckets are the right tools for base enlargements in stable ground conditions.

Cutting arms with teeth are opened mechanically by applying vertical force with the kelly bar onto the opening mechanism of the belling bucket. The ratio of shaft diameter to the end diameter of the bell is about 2.

Core Barrels

Core barrels are mainly used when encountering boulders, cemented gravel, or rock layers.

The cutting ring can be equipped with with various bit arrangements:

  • With pin teeth or weld-on teeth
  • With AS weld-on teeth
  • With round shank chisels (“bullet teeth”)
  • With roller bits for special cases
  • Range of diameter 520 mm – 2500 mm

Casings

Double-walled casings are used for stabilising boreholes in collapsible soil conditions. Casing and joints are designed for resisting the forces of BG-rigs or casing oscillators.

Main features of the casing system are:

  • Flush casing string (inside and outside), replaceable conical srew connections, variable length

Casing Drive Adapters

Casing drive adapter transfer the torque from the rotary drive onto the top of the casing string. There are 3 types of bolt connection systems are available: mechanical connection (bolts are fixed manually), semi-automatic with crank handle, and an automatic locking device.

Casing Shoes

Casing shoes are important key elements on a casing string, especially when working in hard soil conditions or when constructing secant pile walls. Cutting rings on the cutting shoe are supplied either with weld-on teeth or with replaceable cutting teeth.

Special Features:

  • Excellent cutting geometry with defined outside and inside free-cut area
  • Easy flow of soil material at the cutting edge / long lifetime
  • Maintenance and repair with easy means on site

Wear Parts

Wear parts with high quality and easy availibility are essential for a full range of a drilling tool system. Replacing wear parts on time will ensure an extended lifetime of the tools as well as good work performance.

The range of Bauer wear parts comprises :

  • Flat teeth
  • Flat teeth with tungsten carbide pins
  • Tooth holders
  • Round shank chisels (“bullet teeth”) with holders
  • AS-weld-on teeth
  • Pilot bits
  • Wear strips for auger flight protection
  • Kelly boxes
  • Conical screws for casing joints
  • Conical inserts for casing screw connections
